New 5 year outsourcing contract won with BT, covering 54 countries and worth approx £200m. Continued to enhance services capability with acquisitions of Digica and Allnet. |
2005 |
As part of a major strategic initiative, we launch new services designed to meet the growing demand for the cost-effective managed support of Datacentres and establish a specialist Software Business Unit. In Germany, we are contracted to provide maintenance services to Telefonica, including the transfer of its Field Engineering division to Computacenter in an outsourcing agreement. |
2004 |
Our Managed Services business continues to grow across Europe. In the UK, EDF Energy awards us a major contract to manage in excess of 10,000 desktops and laptops at more than 100 sites. In Germany we win a five-year Managed Services contract with FinanzIT Servicegesellschaft, a major IT supplier to the German Savings Banks Organisation. |
2003 |
January , Computacenter plc acquires GE CompuNet in Germany and GE Capital IT Solutions Austria. Computacenter wins some major outsourcing contracts. Abbey appoints us to manage its desktop infrastructure in a five-year contract valued at £70 million. We are also contracted to manage 35,000 desktops for HBOS – nearly half its estate - in a three-year contract. |
2002 |
February 2002, Computacenter launches the new Solution Centre - this is the first facility in the UK to offer multi-vendor proof of concept and testing services in an independent environment across the full range of IT infrastructure. Computacenter becomes Sun's Service Partner of the Year. Sun Microsystems has named Computacenter 'Service Partner of the Year 2001' at the Sun Partner Awards ceremony. Computacenter wins top Enterprise Accreditation. Computacenter becomes the first infrastructure services partner to be awarded a new Enterprise Service Delivery Partner (ESDP) by Compaq. |
2001 |
Sun awards Computacenter its Breakthrough Partner of the Year award for 2000. Computacenter is awarded BMC's EMEA Partner of the Year for BMC's FY 2001. This was the first year that Computacenter has traded with BMC. Computacenter acquired GECITS UK & French business while GECITS acquired Computacenter Germany |

Computacenter wins the 'FMCG and Capital Goods Distributor' of the year accolade at the European Supply Chain Excellence Awards. |
1999 |
British Telecom renews its contract with Computacenter for the next three years to include maintenance of all BT's distributed IT systems and full implementation of e-commerce into BT's business units. Computacenter Belgium is established and we acquire RDC, a UK-based IT disposal services company. |
1998 |
On May 21st 1998 Computacenter successfully floats on the London Stock Exchange. Proshare (the leading UK organisation promoting wider share ownership amongst employees) awards us "Best Involvement and Innovation for Employee Share Ownership" in the UK for the last 12 months. |
1997 |
Computacenter UK revenues exceed £1 billion. The company is voted European Reseller/VAR of the UK, the UK Reseller of the Year, and most innovative approach to customer support in Europe. |
1996 |
The company achieves a UK turnover of £803 million with profits before tax of £40m. The company employs over 2,000 people and supplies over 245,000 PCs over the year in the UK. |
1995 |
Computacenter reaches a turnover of over £500 million, employs 1750 people and wins the largest desktop contract in Europe with BT. Computacenter France becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of Computacenter. |
1994 |
Computacenter becomes the largest UK owned IT company and Mike Norris is appointed as Chief Executive Officer. |
1992 |
Computacenter achieves BS5750 accreditation. |
1991 |
The Independent lists Computacenter as one of the fastest growing independent companies in the UK. |
1990 |
Computacenter's new headquarters and the largest PC outlet in Europe opens in Blackfriars Road, London. |
1989 |
Computacenter creates International Computer Group (ICG) with leading companies in Germany and France. |
1988 |
Computacenter is the first company to receive the IBM Quality Dealer of the Year award for a second time. |
1984 |
Comptacenter's branch network extended to six locations. |
