In 2007 we won BT’s Supplier Innovation
Award for our work in helping the company
reduce the carbon footprint of its Windows
datacentre estate by 85%. With around
1,400 fewer servers to power and cool, the
company has been able to cut its energy
consumption by over 5,000 kW per hour,
which accounts for savings of almost £800,000 per annum.
The Environment Agency’s redundant IT assets are recycled or remarketed by RDC, Computacenter’s recycling arm, with zero IT waste disposed to landfill. This has helped the Environment Agency exceed European WEEE recycling targets and strengthen its reputation for leading by example in environmental excellence. The profit made from remarketing the Agency’s IT assets means that the service effectively paid for itself in 2007.
